handmade christmas cards

I have had a go at making some new christmas card designs (while I still have the time) using some pretty papers that I picked up last year in the sale.

I made the mini christmas stocking using felt and hand embroidery, just to add a different texture to the card and to create a fun main feature.

The cards are white, C6, pre-cut and come with envelopes which cost around £4.99 from hobbycraft.
I attached a piece of self adhesive foam pad to the back of the stocking to create a relief effect, although you cant really tell from the photo. The ribbon was £1.09 a roll and the button was sourced from the hobbycraft Basics Range - £1.00 for a bag of about 50 (mixed colours).

engaged!

my friends have just recently announced their engagement so i have made a card to mark the occasion

I used a sewing machine to stitch the detail using white, natural and ivory threads. I then used my heart stamp to create decorative hearts in a variety of papers and card stock and attached them with craft glue.
I applied hot glue to the diamante and positioned them randomly.

I embossed some silver card using a brass stencil, light box and embossing tool. I then used a craft knife to cut to slits in either side so I could slide a piece of white ribbon through.
I cut a piece of peach patterned card stock and a white textured handmade paper and glued them together behind the engaged tag.

thankful card

I found a lovely idea for a thank you card when
searching on the net for some inspiration
(and mixed it up a little it with some ideas of my own).

I am pleased with the results and may try the same idea with some bunting instead
(as used on my baby girl card the other day).

handmade christmas cards

I'ts been a while since my last post - work has that nasty habit of taking over!
Anyway, I have decided to make my family christmas cards
(with the intention of actually finishing them - this year!)
I was inspired by some lovely examples of handmade cards that I found online
'homemade gifts made easy'.

I used designer paper, which I cut into the various bauble shapes. I then applied a little glitter with PVA to parts of the bauble to make it look a bit more festive. Although I usually buy my cards pre-cut, I printed the messages onto ivory linen card using an ink jet printer, then cut and folded them to size. I used double sided tape to attach the ribbon and a hot glue gun to attach the bow and diamante.
